    I found some literature that says that plaquenil can lower your blood sugar, but the stuff I found only mentioned reductions of about 5 mg/dl.     I can say, however, that I have not had any cross allergic reaction to other drugs sometimes associated with sulfa allergies. Whether you try Plaquenil or not is ultimately up to you and your doctor, but a lot will depend on the type and severity of reactions that you've had.
