    Since I have not taken it my chest feels so much better which is odd because chest pain is not listed as a side effect. Also I noticed that the Plaquenil I think was making me feel different but not in a good way.

    Yes, if the plaquenil controls your Lupus flares, it is best to not use the prednisone. I hope you can get off of it completely, or at least take a small maintenance dose. Take it very slow, tapering off, and if you have a reaction, severe fatigue, etc, talk to your doc, about tapering down even slower. Have been on methotrexate 20mg 8/@2.5mg for about a year and 1/2.     Did you take yourself off Plaquenil, or did your doctor tell you to go off it? Plus I will be honest the whole eye site thing even though rare has always freaked me out. I went off of it to see if I can manage not being on it as my lupus isnt as severe as other cases but already I am feeling very fatigued and my legs feel heavy if that makes sense. I can discuss alternatives with my DR at my next appt but my DR feels as though the plaq is the best bet for my level of illness. If so are you just dealing with Lupus symptoms or did you take another med? I'm on Plaquenil, and after the first week's GI upset, I have had no problems with it.

  5. I think tapering off over a month or so would be fine, but I would NOT go cold turkey on this one. Maybe your doc will want to switch you to another SNRI like Effexor to help during the taper off. And of course you can’t really cut the tabs in half due to the time-release coating.
